By direction of the President and under the provisions of Sec. I, Cir 32 Hq ETO US Army,23 March 1944, a Distinguished Service Cross is awarded to:

Lieutenant Colonel ROBERT C. MCCABE, 021089, Field Artillery, ** Armored Field Artillery Battalion, 10 Armored Division, United States Army. For extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy in GERMANY. During the period 20 - 21 April 1945, during fierce action against the enemy, Colonel MC CABE, fearlessly exposed himself to intense hostile ground fire and air attacks to make personal reconnaissance of routes of advance and reported enemy strong points. When enemy troops launched desperate counterattack against his command post, this intrepid officer courageously moved into the firing line and by his heroic actions, inspired his men to repulse the enemy. Colonel MC CABE'S dauntless leadership and unflinching devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service...
